Frequently Asked Questions

Both analysis types start off with what cards you already have, analyze how you use your credit cards, and make recommendations for you.

The Next-Card Analysis is the better choice if you're only looking to add one credit card to your deck. We'll look at the available cards and let you know how much additional rewards you can expect to receive every year with each option.

The Full-Deck Analysis is better is you're looking to add more than one card to your current deck. Not only do the spending rewards from different credit cards complement each other, but some benefits can be applied to additional cards. The Full-Deck Analysis looks at at all the possible new combinations to find which combinations of new cards are the best for you. While the Next-Card Analysis may tell you that you can get the most benefit from adding one card, the Full-Deck Analysis goes beyond and might show you the benefit of adding two different cards.

The good news is that you can't go wrong with either option!

As any good financial analyst will tell you, it depends on how you use the cards. Cards with annual fees tend to have better rewards, and you need to spend enough on the credit card to make it worth it to offset the annual fee. When we analyze your spending, we take the annual fee into account. We'll give you a straight and clear answer whether it's worth it for you to get any card with an annual fee.

Travel credit cards that offer rewards with points/miles can offer some amazing benefits. However, to maximize these benefits, it often requires transfering rewards to partner airlines and then booking airfare with those points. Some people consider these extra steps to not be worth the hassle.

If you'd rather avoid this, we recommend sticking to credit cards with cash rewards.

Branded credit cards are those that are issued by stores/hotels/airlines. Unfortunately, at this time we are not recommending branded cards. While some of these cards can offer wonderful benefits, we find that there are far too many and the rewards are far too restrictive for general recommendations. We strive to only recommend cards that have universal benefits for everyone.

We understand that not everybody has great credit, and that's okay. Having a good credit score opens up a lot of possibilities and allows you to get the best credit cards. At this time we're focused on recommending the best credit cards available.

If you cannot qualify for any of the cards that we recommend to you, it would be helpful improve your credit score. Secured credit cards are a great way to do that. Any secured credit card should be beneficial.

We will soon be implementing credit card recommendations for users with less-than-stellar credit.
